Cora Barclay Centre families are busy. Between therapy appointments, visits to Australian Hearing plus all that regular school, sports and family stuff, they lead busy lives. But for the past few months a group of these amazing people have been putting together a fundraising event for the Centre.
The Trivia Night took place on Saturday 4th November, and by every standard it was an enormous success.
- 190 people
- 50 questions
- 83 silent auction prizes
- 60 pizzas eaten
And, of course the biggest statistic
$10,000 raised to support the Centre.
A huge thank you must go to the organising team – Amy, Elle, Felicia, Kirsty, Mei, Paul, Philippa and Tristan. They did an incredible job and created a night that will truly be remembered – especially by the winning table!
How will the funds be used?
The funds raised from the event have been ear marked to give the library a well needed upgrade and relocation within the Centre.
From its current spot opposite the staircase the library is going to move to the top of the staircase, with the entry moved. This will create a cosy library, with much more room for books and space to sit and read.
Creating spaces that are functional and fun for families is really important to the Centre, but our general budgets really don’t allow for us to undertake projects like this. That is why having families take ownership of this Trivia Night and raise the money for this project is so amazing; we are able to give back something that otherwise would remain as is for the foreseeable future.
