Teaching deaf kids to speak

Leon and Ole

Leon and Ole are ‘4 and a bit’ years old and are best buddies who met at therapy. Like most other little boys their age they love playing outdoors and being very very noisy. The Centre always knows when Leon and Ole have arrived with all their chatting and laughter.

Leon knows all of the names of the “Avengers” and loves talking about them. He also loves the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. He loves practicing the deep voice of Papa Bear and the high voice of Baby Bear.

Ole and Leon will both be heading to school in the new year and are currently taking part in our Bright Start group, which prepares children who are deaf or hearing impaired for the school environment.

92% of children with permanent hearing loss are born to hearing parents.
