Teaching deaf kids to speak

Eva

Eva has bi-lateral severe hearing loss, but with three older sisters she has learnt to speak up! She is now three years old and loves the drums, maracas and the tambourine. She loves using her voice and asks to have her hearing aids put in so she can communicate with her family. She can sing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and now knows most of the words.

Eva lives with her family on a farm and commutes weekly for therapy at the Cora Barclay Centre.

Hearing loss is one of the most common disabilities in newborns, affecting approximately 1 in 1,000 babies each year.
